Meet the 2020 Board

Each member of the Board has participated in International Mr Leather Finals and holds the IML Medallion. It is a requirement to be on the Board.Here’s a snapshot of the rich history and depth of experience in the leather and kink community of the men guiding the Contest Series.


Tim Ball
– IML 38 (NSW)

Tim Ball is Sydney Mr Leather 2015/2016 competed in Chicago in 2016 at IML and placed in the top 10 out of 60 finalist from around the world. He is a long standing volunteer for BINGAY and other ACON events.

In previous years Tim managed World AIDS Day Red Ribbon Appeal, Honour Awards and was also National Relationships Manager for Pride In Diversity. As a Leatherman Tim speaks at coming out groups and better sex forums aimed at gay youth.

Over the last year Tim was on the committee for SLPA and worked tightly with Ms Sydney Leather organizing fundraisers, Inquisition, Fair Day, The Mardi Gras parade float and running workshops on behalf of SLPA.

Tim is affiliated with the HowHard initiative for sexually adventurous men and is an Advocate for PrEP.

Stephen Morgan
– IML 38 (Vic)

Stephen Morgan is the Laird Leatherman 2015 and a finalist in IML #38.  Stephen is an Osteopath at Northside Clinic and director of the Ross Watson gallery.   Stephen spent his title year raising funds for the Gay and Lesbian Foundation of Australia during which he founded the High Cow charity dinner to raise the visibility of the leather community to the wider GLBTI community.    

Stephen was introduced to the leather and kink scene almost 20 years ago and has developed his skills in impact play and rope bondage.  He flags Hunter green left and red bilaterally.

A keen traveler who likes to attend leather events around the world.  Stephen is also recreational pilot, who will happily spend any spare time he has up in the air furthering the endorsements to his license.   Stephen lives in Melbourne with his partner and their two fox terriers.

Pierre Brand
– IML 31 (Qld)

Pierre Brand became involved in the Brisbane Leather scene around a decade ago with the local leather social club, BootCo. He won the title of Mr Queensland Leather in 2008, then went on to become the first Mr Australia & New Zealand Leather in 2009. With this title he competed at IML 31 in Chicago and finished in the top 20.    

Pierre then took on the role of President of BootCo in 2009 for the next 3 years. During his time as President he aimed to encourage younger members of the community to become more involved in the club. He also encouraged more of a variety of kink and fetishes with themed nights. It was also during this time that a lot of progress was made to include trans guys.

As Mr Qld Leather and later as President, he was closely involved in the birth of Brisbane Leather Pride. He also encouraged the pup scene in Queensland to grow and become more accepted.”

Chris Ross – IML 23 (US)

Chris has been active in leather since the early 90’s and competed in International Mr Leather in 2001 placing in the top 20 out of 63 competitors.    

He is Mr Daddy’s Leather 2001 and was Leather Daddy 94 and Runner up in both East Sydney Drummer in 1990 and Mr San Francisco Leather 2001.

He is a practitioner in SM, bondage, puppy handling and consensual kink and has participated in a range of events from demonstrations in bondage and flogging etc to interrogation. In professional life, he is involved in the military and works as a contractor with the Department of Defense.

Chris has been a resident of California for the since 1994 and involved in supporting HIV-AIDS Education and Prevention Projects in the US including the Mr. Friendly Campaign and PrEP, the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund and a supporter Leather Archives Projects and SF K-9 Unit

He has produced and emceed leather events and benefits including Regional Drummer Contests, Mr Leather Contests and fund raisers and frequently invited to judge or mentor future contestants and also works on IML Staff as a Contestant Handler.

He was the founding editor or the Australian Leather Journal, and one of the original 3 founding members of Sydney Leather Pride .

Additional interests extend to musical theater and performance as director, producer, music director or vocalist and composed the original Battle March for Leather Pride performed at the International Drummer Contest Finals and is one of the founding members of the former “XVI” Bondage Club in Sydney.

Gerry Ebert
– IML 39 (SA)

Gerry Ebert is a winner of multiple inaugural titles.  He is Mr Adelaide Leather 2016 and Australian Leatherman 2017. Gerry was a competitor at International Mr Leather 39.    

Gerry was on the founding committee of the Adelaide Leather and Fetish committee and has worked tirelessly during his title year promoting the fetish community of South Australia and bringing the Australian Fetish communities together.Gerry created GEAR’d – Adelaide’s first leather and fetish weekend and Dorothy’s Dungeon – a camp monthly fetish night. 

Gerry is the current president of Adelaide Leather and Fetish and is one of the organisers of the national leather float for 2018’s Mardi Gras parade.

Continuing to be involved in the community is important and after his step down this weekend Gerry will add to the events at GEAR’d including the first Ms Adelaide Leather and Bootblack titles.

James Davidson
– IML 40 (SA)

James Davidson is Australian Leatherman 2018. He hails from Adelaide South Australia where he a committee member of the Adelaide Leather and Fetish and Co-Organizer for the South Australian Pups and Handers.   

James volunteers for SAMESH (SA Mobilization + Empowerment for Sexual Health) a community sexual health organization.  He was an organizer of the Inaugural Adelaide Fetish Weekend –GEAR’d

James enjoys socializing with other leathermen in the kink community. When organizing pup and handler events he particularly enjoys breaking in those new to the pup play.

When there is spare time James enjoys gaming on his PC and Play Station.

Scott Lovegrove
– IML 40 (QLD)

Rhys Lewis
– IMMBB 25 (VIC)

Rhys is the inaugural holder of Australian Mr Bootblack 2017 and this year’s runner up for International Mr Bootblack 2017.

While discovering the bootblacking scene a little over 6 years he has found it a gateway to connect with not only his fellow community but the worldwide leather community and experience the walks of life and journeys of everyone who loves leather.

It is through this past year and his achievements he has been able to grow and better understand and importantly take away the ideals and values of every person who has walk in to the gates of leather.

As it is his belief above all else the community past and present is the heart and soul of leather

James Addinsall
– IML 41 (Vic)

James is Laird Leatherman 2017. He moved to Melbourne in 2016 and, inspired by the men of the Laird, became an artist who drew inspiration from leather, fetish, and the hanky code.    

During his title year as Laird Leatherman 2017, he raised money and awareness for Positive Women Victoria, Australia’s only community based organisation dedicated to supporting women living with HIV. During his year, James enjoyed being part of the judging panel for several local competitions, and fantasies in many cities and was very excited to be part of the Australian Leatherman team as Tallymaster 2019 

James competed in IML in 2019 and placed in the Top 20 out of 74 Contestants
